On January 6, 2003, Metal One Corporation (Japan) was established as a collaboration
between Mitsubishi Corporation and Nissho Iwai Corporation (now Sojitz Corporation).
These companies are well known within the international steel community for their commitment
and longevity. Over 100 years of separate histories and business cultures were successfully
brought together as one.
This reorganization was an inevitable strategic merger designed to move the company into the
new millennium to meet with the increased competition within the steel industry.
Prior to this corporate collaboration, in 1989, facility in Ingersoll, Ontario was
established to meet the steel requirements for CAMI(GM/Suzuki), and its affiliated automotive
supply chain. Since that time, Metal One Canada has continued to grow and meet the challenges
and requirements of its diverse customer base. In 1996, Monzen Steel Division was created to
meet the needs of Metal One Canada’s processing requirements. It has continued to expand its
services to a variety of automotive and non-automotive customers.
Metal One Canada and the Monzen Steel division merged to become Metal One Canada Corporation in January, 2006.
